I dont usually buy compilation albums, I prefer the original releases. Weatherbox however is so much more than simply a compilation album. Its a work of modern music packaging art! 5 cd's, a hefty booklet and a box that just looks great on any shelf! A true rarity. Get one if you can find it for a price you can afford!

Simple Minds - Sister Feelings Call

A fine album which was only 2 releases away from their "Sgt Pepper" (excuse the much overused analogy!)... New Gold Dream.

Simple Minds to me have 3 epochs. 1- Pre New Gold Dream. 2- New Gold Dream and Sparkle In the Rain 3- everything else.... epoch 2 being the best. Epoch 1 has plenty of good listening and material to make you think (The American).

As a side point Derek Forbes was voted "the best bass player in the world" which I can come close to agreeing with as long as I dont think too long about Mick Karn! Just sayin'.....

Indio - Big Harvest

Original vinyl disc (not a reissue)

Released in 1989 this only album by Indio (Gordon Peterson) is very fine from start to finish. It features several high profile artists such as guitarist David Rhodes (Peter Gabriel) and Joni Mitchell. It includes Hard Sun which got considerable airplay and was covered by Eddie Vedder.

200g vinyl 2 disc set

XTC in top form on one of their best releases. This one being from 1982. Nobody was putting out this quality music in 1982. I can say that only because Japan had disbanded and David Sylvians first solo album was still a few years out!
